There has been quite a buzz about Metaverse in the internet world and how it's going to change the digital marketing world. Metaverse is nothing but a virtual reality where users will be able to interact with one another and experience a virtual world.
Think of it as a world much like our current one but on the internet where the possibilities are limitless. A world where you can do whatever you want - be it meeting others for shopping - from the comfort of your home. If you are wondering, how the metaverse will impact the marketing world. Well, the word Metaverse is broad and interlink with marketing via augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality.

A truly revolutionary development, the Metaverse is expected to completely change the dynamics of the Internet, bringing forth a new age of Internet usage unlike anything that's been seen before.

In metaverse people use Avatars to represent themselves and relate to one another. Let's first understand virtual reality and augmented reality.

Virtual reality is a computer-generated environment where every scene and objects appear to be real, making the user feel they are actually present in the surroundings they are witnessing. This experience is perceived with a device called Virtual Reality headset or helmet

                                                                 Metaverse

Let’s give an example of how a famous shoe store uses virtual reality to their advantage and give their customer an experience of using their product.

“Nike uses augmented reality and virtual reality in their physical stores. Customers can scan items like shoes or clothing to view information, or they can enter a VR world to experience the different steps in Nike's supply chain so they understand how and where items are being made” ( Best Examples Of Augmented And Virtual Reality In Retail)

Augmented reality is also known as mixed reality which is nothing but technology used to enhance reality, what augmented reality does is -  it brings your digital products into your existing environment.

Best example of augmented reality is interior decoration. We all would like to buy perfect furniture for our house that is color coordinated. This is where augmented reality comes to play where we can virtually impose a picture over the physical objects to give us an idea how the product would look once it is implemented in a specific space.

Now that you understand the difference between augmented and virtual reality it becomes simple to know why the metaverse is driven by augmented reality, where each user controls the avatar.

Not sure if Metaverse is going to be the future of digital marketing as technology keeps evolving every day, but, for now it is definitely creating a buzz.
